Getting Help

If you run into a problem with Sayble or have a question, we’re here to help.

Setting Up

How do I install the keyboard?

iOS does not let an app add its own keyboard, so this step has to be done once in Settings:

  1. Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards
  2. Tap Add New Keyboard and choose Sayble Keyboard
  3. Tap Sayble Keyboard and turn on Allow Full Access

The main app has a setup screen that walks through the same steps and can open Settings for you.

Why does the keyboard need Full Access?

iOS requires it for two things: reaching the refinement service over the network, and sharing your snippets and personal dictionary with the keyboard.

Without it, the keyboard still types, but cloud refinement and shared snippets are unavailable.

Password fields always use Apple’s secure keyboard. iOS does not allow any third-party keyboard to appear there.

How do I switch to Sayble?

Tap any text field, then press and hold the globe key (🌐) and choose Sayble. The globe key in the Sayble keyboard switches back.

Dictation

How do I dictate?

Switch to the Sayble keyboard, then tap the iOS microphone at the lower right of the keyboard. Speak naturally — pauses, repetition, and changing your mind mid-sentence are all fine. Sayble cleans up the text after you stop.

Why does my text change a moment after I finish speaking?

Sayble cleans up locally first so you see something immediately, then refines the full passage. The second pass has the whole sentence to work with, so it can add punctuation and remove filler the first pass could not judge safely.

Changes only ever go in one direction: extra words disappear and punctuation appears. Words you actually said are not removed.

It removed a word I meant to keep

Choose Verbatim mode. It keeps your wording and only fixes punctuation.

The mode button is in the keyboard header, and the main app has the same setting. There are three:

  • Verbatim — your exact words, punctuation only
  • Smart (default) — removes filler, repetition, and self-corrections
  • Polished — also improves phrasing and tone

None of the modes invent facts, numbers, or commitments you did not say.

Names and technical terms come out wrong

Add them to your personal dictionary: in the main app, open More → Personal Dictionary. Sayble sends these as recognition hints, which improves names, product names, and specialist vocabulary.

Can I get the original text back?

Yes. The main app keeps a local history with both the original transcript and the final result, and the result area has a Restore original button.

Can it clean up text while I type?

Yes, and it’s optional. In the main app, open More and turn on Live cleanup while typing. Shortly after you pause, fillers, stutters, and duplicated words disappear.

Wording, punctuation, and numbers are never changed silently, and the word you are still typing is left alone. This needs Full Access.

Rewriting and Writing

How do I rewrite text that’s already written?

Switch to the Edit tab in the keyboard. Pick an action — Proofread, Concise, Formal, Friendly, or Bullets — or tap ✨ and say how you want it changed.

You get a preview first. Replace text applies it, and Undo edit puts the original back.

Can it write something from scratch?

Yes. With an empty field, switch to the Edit tab, tap ✨, and say what you need — for example “tell my colleague I’m off tomorrow”. Sayble writes the finished message, and you tap Replace text to insert it.

If it doesn’t have enough to work with, it will ask you to say a bit more rather than guessing.

Snippets

How do I save frequently used text?

In the main app, open the Snippets screen (the ➕ icon in the header) and add an entry with a name and content. Addresses, signatures, and standard replies are the common cases.

How do I insert one?

In the keyboard, switch to the Snippets tab and tap the entry. The full content is inserted at the cursor.

My snippet is too long to read in the keyboard

Each row shows the name plus two lines of content, which fits a full detailed address. Longer entries are shortened in the list but insert in full.

Troubleshooting

The keyboard says it needs Full Access

Go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Sayble Keyboard and turn on Allow Full Access.

Refinement failed or timed out

Sayble keeps whatever text it already had, so nothing is lost. Check your network connection and try again. If a cloud refinement cannot complete, local cleanup still applies.

Rewrite says it can’t read the text

Some apps do not expose their text field contents to third-party keyboards, and iOS does not provide a way around this. Dictation still works in those apps.

The keyboard doesn’t appear in some apps

Some apps disable third-party keyboards, and secure fields such as password entry always use Apple’s keyboard. This is an iOS restriction.

Snippets or dictionary terms are missing

Both are shared between the app and keyboard through the App Group, which requires Full Access. Confirm it is enabled, then reopen the keyboard.

Privacy

Is my voice recorded?

No. Keyboard dictation is handled by Apple’s built-in iOS dictation, and the Sayble keyboard does not request microphone access. Audio is never stored or transmitted — only text is processed.

What gets sent to the server?

The text being processed, your chosen mode, the recognition language, your dictionary terms as hints, and your instruction when you ask for a rewrite. Full details are in the privacy policy.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no sign-in, and no email required.
