Common Questions

How do I open AnyFile?

AnyFile runs as a menu bar app. After launching, look for the document icon in your macOS menu bar (top-right area). Click it to access all features. You can also use the global hotkey ⌥⇧F (Option+Shift+F) to toggle the floating panel.

How do I enable the Finder Extension?

AnyFile includes a Finder extension for right-click context menu access. To enable it:

  1. Open System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions
  2. Click Extensions
  3. Find AnyFile and enable it

Or on macOS 15+:

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Extensions
  2. Find Added Extensions → AnyFile
  3. Enable it

How do I use Batch Rename?

  1. Press ⌘1 or click the “Rename” tab
  2. Click “Add Files” to select files, or drag and drop files into the panel
  3. Add rename rules (Find & Replace, Add Prefix/Suffix, Sequence, etc.)
  4. Preview the results in real-time
  5. Click “Rename” or press ⌘Enter to execute

You can undo the last rename operation with ⌘Z.

How do I use Batch Move?

  1. Press ⌘2 or click the “Batch Move” tab
  2. Click “Add Files” to select files
  3. Choose a destination folder in the dialog that appears
  4. Files will be copied or moved with progress tracking

Switch between Copy and Move mode using the toggle at the top.

How do I find duplicate files?

  1. Press ⌘3 or click the “Duplicates” tab
  2. Click “Add Folder” to select one or more folders to scan
  3. Click “Scan” to start
  4. Review duplicate groups and choose which to keep (oldest or newest)
  5. Trash duplicates individually or in bulk

How do I restore my purchase?

Open the app, go to Settings (from the menu bar menu), and click “Restore Purchase”. Your purchase is linked to your Apple ID and can be restored on any Mac.
